What we do
Section 19 of the Work Health & Safe Act 2011 identifies that the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers. This includes the provision of the necessary information, training, instruction or supervision to protect workers.
One approach taken by many workplaces, to assist in complying with S19, is to ensure the competence of their operators prior to any tasks being undertaken. This process is known as a verification of competency (VOC).
Verification of Competency (VOC) is a method of assessment that can be used to demonstrate the worker’s ability to operate equipment and/or undertake the responsibilities of these roles.
WorkSafe Connect offers a VOC service that can be conducted onsite without interrupting productivity. VOC assessments are completed while staff are working, eliminating the need to employ temporary replacements and are used to ensure your staff can operate equipment in complete safety.
How we do it
WorkSafe Connect's VOC service is about being pro-active rather than re-active to identify competency levels and gaps in competency to be rectified through relevant training ensuring your workplace is safe. In addition to VOC, WorkSafe Connect's VOC service can provide you with refresher training to assist you with your duty of care obligations.
We offer a wide range of VOC services covering the following key areas of risk related disciplines:
- Height Safety
- Confined Space
- Work Health and Safety
- Asbestos
- Construction
- RII Competencies - Resources and Infrastructure
- High-Risk Work Licenses
